AKSINIA PEYCHEVA (1990)
Aksinia Peycheva (born in Kyustendil, 1990) lives and works in Sofia. She holds a PhD from the National Academy of Arts in Sofia. In 2017 she completed the educational program for young artists "Close Encounters - Visual Dialogues / School4artists" of ICA-Sofia. He has a master's degree in Mural Painting, National Academy of Arts (2015); and Bachelor's degree in Mural Painting, National Academy of Arts (2013).
The focus of her work is the process of ‘visual translation’ where she explores the possible ways of moving pieces of information between different fields of knowledge – ‘how one or several scientific fields can be combined in order to answer a question only important to art.’ She often collaborates with scientists, and her projects are also accompanied by a theoretical part, the result of a long study on certain topics, which include the topic of the visual translation of music or pain.
She has three solo shows – `BioReconstruction …(of a future moment)`, created under the mentorship of Nedko Solakov as a part of the scholarship from ‘Cultural Perspectives’ Foundation, presented at ICA- Sofia Gallery and Aether Space (2019); ‘Trauma Mapping’, curated by Luchezar Boyadjiev, presented at ICA- Sofia Gallery (2018), supported by Gaudenz Ruf Foundation, LUCUS, presented in Kyustendil and afterwards in Karlsruhe, Germany (2017). Among her participations in group exhibitions are: ‘Occurences of Adundance’, SAMCA Gallery, Sofia (2021); Ars Electronica, Out of the Box, Linz, Austria (2019); Instant Magic Series - Out of the Box, галеther Gallery, Sofia (2019, curator Voin de Voin); School4artists, ICA Gallery, Sofia (2017, curators Yara Bubnova, Krassimir Terziev, Lachezar Boyadzhiev).
