5 is the only number I used to turn upside down as a child! I have 5 grandchildren! There are 5 directions in the East, and the center is the most important direction, which is distributed vertically.

Monika Popova (born in 1968 in Sofia in Bulgaria) is a visual artist whose practice spans sculpture, installation, and interdisciplinary projects. Her work explores the tension between materiality and form, often engaging with natural processes, bodily presence, and transformation. With a nuanced approach to structure and texture, she creates environments and objects that evoke introspection and sensory experience.
Popova studied at the National Academy of Art in Sofia, where she specialized in sculpture. Over the years, her artistic language has evolved through continuous experimentation with organic and synthetic materials, reflecting her interest in cycles of growth, decay, and renewal. Her practice focuses on the exploration of matter as a carrier of time and experience, tracing the interactions between the organic and the industrial, the enduring and the ephemeral.
She has participated in numerous exhibitions in Bulgaria and abroad, and her works are included in both public and private collections. Monika Petrova Popova lives and works in Sofia.
